DRAGON project
European dragonflies as indicators of freshwater ecosystems

Since November 2024, I am part of the consortium of the DRAGON project, which aims at studying the response of European dragonflies to anthropogenic pressures.
A first step was to assemble a large database of opportunistic dragonflies occurrences across Europe, with the help of over 25 data providers (15+ million points).
We are currently analyzing these data with occupancy models to map dragonflies occupancy trends over the last 25 years. These results will allow to investigate the drivers of dragonflies’ increases or declines, and to ultimately propose a biotic indicator for freshwater ecosystems.
